Mr. Mike Jackson

Director of Development

Mr. Michael JacksonMike Jackson is the Director of Development for the Honors Program at Virginia Tech and a life-long Hokie.  After graduating from Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Jackson began his commitment to Hokie-Nation as a student athlete.  As a scholarship member of the Virginia Tech football team, Mike learned early the tremendous benefits of giving and scholarship creation.  He credits this unique student athlete experience with giving him a more complete view of how private philanthropy shapes student’s lives and futures. After earning his B.S. in Marketing Management in 2004 and a stint with Johnson and Johnson in product management, Mr. Jackson completed his MBA at Virginia Tech while still simultaneously serving his alma mater as an assistant Strength and Conditioning coach for Dr. Mike Gentry in the VT athletic department. Mike’s desire for public service then took him to Capitol Hill where he served on the staff of U.S. House of Representatives Leader John Boehner (OH) to build and hone the policies of his hometown congressional district.

Mike is proud to again serve the institution that has provided him countless opportunities. As he explains, “This University is larger than any one person or any one program. Its history has created us, its future excites us and the talents of its students will surpass us."

Mr. Jackson is currently working with the Honors staff to transform the Virginia Tech Honors Program into a residential college while also pursing his PhD is Public Administration and Policy.
